Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information saarkaari.in (the "Site", "we", "our") collects when you visit, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide. If you create an account, contact us, or submit a contribution, you voluntarily give us information such as your name, email address, and the content of your message or submission.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we automatically receive standard log data — including IP address (often truncated), user-agent / browser type, device type, referrer, the pages you visit, timestamps, and approximate location derived from the IP. We use this to keep the Site secure, debug issues, and understand usage.

Cookies and similar technologies. We and our service providers use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and serve advertising. Details below in Section 5.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the Site, authenticate users, and serve requested content;
  • To measure and improve performance, navigation, and content quality;
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, security incidents, and policy violations;
  • To respond to your inquiries, contact-form messages, and copyright notices;
  • To serve advertising — including, where you have given consent in jurisdictions that require it, personalised advertising;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on a small set of well-known service providers. Each processes data subject to its own privacy policy, linked below.

  • Google AdSense — serves third-party advertisements on the Site. How Google uses advertising data.
  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — measures site traffic and usage. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Funding Choices / Consent Management — collects and records advertising-cookie consent in regions that require it (EEA, UK, Switzerland).
  • Microsoft Clarity (when enabled) — anonymised session analytics; see Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Hosting / CDN providers — handle network delivery and may log IP-level metadata for security and abuse prevention.

5. Cookies & Advertising

Categories of cookies we use:

  • Strictly necessary — authentication, CSRF protection, load balancing.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics (e.g., _ga, _gid, _gat).
  • Advertising — Google AdSense and the wider Google ad ecosystem may set or read cookies (including the DoubleClick NID/IDE cookies) to serve ads, measure ad performance, and limit how often you see the same ad.

Personalised vs non-personalised ads. Third parties — including Google — use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
  • You may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.com (EEA/UK).
  • You may disable cookies in your browser settings, although some Site features may not work as a result.

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform to obtain consent before non-essential cookies (including advertising cookies) are set. You can change your choices at any time using the consent banner / re-open link displayed by the CMP.

6. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal bases are:

  • Consent — for advertising cookies, analytics cookies, and marketing communications.
  • Legitimate interests — for security, anti-fraud, and aggregate site-traffic measurement that is strictly necessary to operate the Site.
  • Contractual necessity — to provide account-based features you have requested.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law, including responding to lawful requests by public authorities.

7. Data Sharing & International Transfers

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers listed in Section 4, with rights holders or their representatives in the context of a copyright notice, and where required to comply with law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Saarkaari, our users, or the public.

Some of our service providers (notably Google) operate globally, which means your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Where required, those transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

8. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for security, audit, and legal-compliance purposes. Contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to respond. Server and security logs are retained for a short, rolling window. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be retained indefinitely.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, port your data to another service, or withdraw consent. These include rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the EU/UK GDPR, and California's CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any right, email heresaarkaaricontact@gmail.com with your name, the email used on the Site, and a description of your request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

California users: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising outside of the cookie-based advertising described in Section 5, and you may opt out of that by setting Global Privacy Control in your browser or by adjusting your CMP / Google Ad Settings preferences.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including HTTPS in transit, hashed credentials, and access controls — to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
